Meet your doula
Being a doula for alaskan families isn’t just a job to me , it’s a calling.

“christine is an amazing, compassionate, and in-tune doula!”
“She communicated very well and checked in with me regularly while anticipating my post-date delivery. My labor was over 24 hours. She stood by my side the entire time. I found her presence during labor to be both empowering and calming. She was very encouraging with helping me know my options and support what I wanted. My husband and I were both blown away by the care and love she imparted to our family during that special and intense day when we welcomed our little one.” —Anna P.
why am i a doula?
My journey to becoming a doula began with the birth of my niece. As a mom of four, I had a variety of birth experiences from natural to cesareans and just about everything in between, and my sister asked for my support at her birth. When we were processing that day—years later—she mentioned how much she appreciated my presence and asked if I had ever considered becoming a doula. As soon as she said the words, I asked her, “Why am I NOT a doula?”
It was a huge “A-ha!” moment for me. I reached out to a trainer doing a local certification course two months later and never looked back, quickly falling in love with the work. It is an incredible privilege to be able to support other families during such a transformative time in their lives. I am continually honored to be a part of their journeys and am constantly amazed by the strength and resilience of the families I work with.
Because of my own birth stories and the dozens that I have supported, I define myself as a very “middle of the road” doula, who is comfortable and confident in all birth locations, with and without interventions, and in high and low risk situations. I strongly believe in the importance of education, which I offer to all of my clients as part of every birth package.
I was a guest on KTUU’s Parenting in the Far North podcast in May 2024.

backup doula support
Because we’re all about help here
Birth can be unpredictable and sometimes a doula may have to miss a birth due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, emergency, or simultaneous births. That’s where a backup doula comes in…and mine’s amazing. I partner with Hays Kocinski at Empowered Birth Alaska and if the need arises, I trust them wholeheartedly to care for my clients.
